What is the Airport Code?

The World Airport Code is BUF. The abbreviation (BNIA) is not the Airport Code. It is an abbreviation for Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Is there anywhere to smoke in the terminal?

Smoking is allowed pre-security in designated areas on both the Arrivals and Departures level. After passing through the checkpoint, there is no smoking.

Can I sleep overnight in the terminal?

The terminal is open 24/7. There are seats on both levels. Coffee and vending is available pre-security in the Meet and Greet area next to the Barber Shop.

Is there internet service in the terminal; Is it free?

Yes, there is free internet service available throughout the terminal.

Can a non-traveler accompany a minor, elderly, or disabled traveler to the gate?

Your airline will make that decision. The non-traveler must show their government issued picture ID, and the airline may choose to issue a temporary gate pass. The non-traveler will be screened at the security checkpoint and must leave the secure side as soon as the plane is boarded.

Are reservations required in parking?

Parking reservations are not required. However, a reserved parking option is available in the daily/hourly garage. Details can be found here: https://parking.buffaloairport.com/. 

How often do the transportation shuttles run?

Shuttles run every 15 minutes 24/7 to and from the terminal.

Is the terminal open 24/7?

Yes, the terminal is always open.  However, the TSA security checkpoint closes at 9:00p.m. daily.

Are pets allowed in the airport?

Are there lockers for storing gear for a day?

No, there are no storage lockers anywhere within the terminal.

What if I have a pet being sent to me?

Get clear information from the shipper: contact information for who the carrier is, the flight number, city of departure and the arrival time. Animals on commercial flights will be picked up on the Arrivals Level in the baggage claim office. I.D. will be required. Animals shipped as cargo will be picked up at cargo facility on Cayuga Road adjacent to the airport. The shipper should provide contact/pick-up information.
